When we arrived... we were greeted by the head or the 'Ketua Kampung' and a few other people who are so kind to accompanied us. The 'Ketua Kampung' even wore a suit! Another guy, on the other hand, wore a hat with long bird's feathers jutting out at the sides. At the middle of the pathway to the rumah panjang, they greeted us with a welcoming ceremony.

They brought a chicken, a plate with rice and some other stuff on it, with the sound of drums in the background. Very interesting. What wasn't so interesting, by the way, was the sudden twisting and pulling of the chicken's head off its body! It was gruesome! The blood splattering out the chicken's body didn't help me feel any better, but I understand after that, that is their way to welcome their guest.
